DIY Stationery Organiser - Craft 2

DIY Stationery Organiser- Creative idea from Anushya (12 yrs)

Materials required

1. Any waste box of medium size. This is a square box, you can use any shape. If the height is more than that of a pencil, cut it to 3/4 length so that it is easier to use the organiser.
2. Scissors
3. Glue
4. Cello tape
5. Colour paper or gift wrapping sheet to cover the box.
6. Small piece of cardboard
7. Glitter pens if using plain sheets (optional as it wont work on some shining sheets)
8. Scale
9. Pencil
10. Any foam stickers or small stickers

Cut the top opening of the box. Place the box on the colour paper and draw outlines to cover the 4 sides of the box. Not required to cover the base but can be done if you want.

Cut it and stick it in the respective sides. Measure the length and width using a scale in the inner side for making partition. Depending on size of the box, partitions can be more. Here only 1 partition is done as box is small. Draw the same on a thicker cardboard or you can use the top portion that was removed.

Cut the partition piece, apply glue on three sides except the one that will face up and insert it into the box. Let it dry for 5 mins.

Now decorate the front side using foam stickers, or any other stickers, stones, glitter pens, sketch pens, ribbons..anything that you like. You can also write a quote if you want. Your stationery organiser is ready.

DIY Pen stand with any old carton - Craft idea 1

Please handle glue and scissors with utmost care. Always spread a newspaper and start work so that the floor doesn’t get dirty and waste material can be cleared easily.

Materials required

1. Any old carton- small to medium size (soap carton, toothpaste carton, after shave carton, soap powder carton, any food carton - Anything that is clean and strong enough to stand on its own). I used an after shave carton in the pictures
2. Glue
3. Colour paper or gift wrapping paper or any plain sheet can be painted with poster colours
4. Scissors

Cut the upper lid part which will be used as opening for placing things in the box. You can cut it straight or some design whichever convenient. Cover the carton with the colour/gift wrapping paper well. If there is any transparent or open portion in the box, it can be left uncovered too for a nice look as in the pic.

Draw your favourite cartoon/design in a slightly thick paper like chart paper or thin cardboard. If box can fit more, draw as many as you want and colour them as you like. Cut it to shape and stick it on the box.

A unique pen stand is ready to keep your pen/pencils/colours.

Tip- If the box is not strong and falls down, cut a piece of thick cardboard (from old notebooks will also do) slightly bigger than your pen stand and stick it below the pen stand. Once dry, it will stand well.

Crochet on Can

Make small motifs and check the required number of motifs by placing it around the can. Now join these pieces by crochet and make borders to get the required length and breadth. Also, made a round piece in crochet to fit the circumference of the can. Now, join both the pieces and cover the can with it. It can be used in kitchens to keep your spoons, or as a pen stand or a comb stand too. (Since this was made long back seeing a similar piece, I find it difficult to state the steps in doing the motifs..)

Pen stand with old box

Instead of throwing away the old cartons like shaving lotion carton, toothpaste carton etc, convert them into beautiful personalised pen stands. Just rip off the top portion that is used to close the carton and cover them with a colour paper of your choice.
Use color sketchpens or water colours to draw any design you like. You can also stick some sequeins, laces to make it more attractive.
