Chain stitch embrodiery

This week Sharon's challenge for TAST is Chain stitch.. I tried the following patterns of creating lines, curves, combination with other stitches, borders and also tried filling with chain stitch...

Earlier done on chain stitch -

Detatched chain stitch

This week's stitch for TAST challenge by Sharon is Detatched Chain stitch..This is quite an easy one, however practice would make the stitch look more beautiful and symmetric.

Here are my samples for the stitch

Buttonhole stitch tutorial and sampler

Buttonhole stitch looks very good for borders and adjusting the lengths while doing gives beautiful designs.

Bring up the needle at A, down at B and up at C with thread to the right of the needle, again down at D and up at E with thread to the right side and so on..

Some of the variations tried by adjusting lengths..

Feather stitch tutorial and sampler

Feather stitch is a bit similar to Fly stitch, but worked in continuity unlike fly stitch.

Bring up the needle at A, down at B while keeping the thread behind the needle, up at C, down at D, up at E with thread behind the needle and so on.

Some of the designs in feather stitch

Have a look at closed feather stitch too - a variation of feather stitch

Fly stitch tutorial and sampler

Fly stitch is a very simple embrodiery stitch and to do the stitch, bring up the needle at A, down at B, up at C with thread behind the needle and down at D again. This completes one single stitch and combination of fly stitches in various ways bring in lot of variety in the stitches.

Some of the variations tried with Fly stitch

Chevron Stitch tutorial and sampler

This week Sharon's challenge for TAST week 6  is Chevron stitch..

Here are my variations to the stitch..I didnt add any sequeins, but it would look great if added..

A heart and round shape

To try this stitch

Bring the needle up at B, down at C, up at A, down at D, up at E, down at F, up at D, down at G, up at H, down at I, up at G and so on...

Herringbone stitch tutorial and Sampler

This week's TAST challenge by Sharon is Herringbone stitch.

There are a few variations to herringbone stitch, but here I have tried only herringbone stitch and double herringbone stitch without any addition of sequeins. Its quite a simple stitch and easy for beginners too..

Pull up the needle at A, down at B and up at C, again down at D and up at E...continue to do so. This is for the basic herringbone stitch.

In this first picture, I have tried double herringbone stitch, herringbone with chain stitch and finally herringbone with buttonhole stitch.

In the below picture, I have tried herringbone with feather stitch, two rows of double herringbone stitch and multiple lines of herringbone stitch.

I have tried my favourite pattern on swirls and round with double herringbone stitch and chain stitch

Cretan stitch tutorial and sampler

This week's TAST challenge by Sharon on Pintangle is Cretan stitch..

Here is the step by step instructions for beginners

On cloth, the steps look as in the below picture

Some of the patterns that I tried with this stitch

Feather stitch quilted coaster

Materials required

Cloth of desired colour
Embrodiery thread
Embrodiery ring
Needles
Foam

Cut the cloth in 2 pieces of measurement 11 cm X 11 cm for each coaster. Cut one piece of foam of the same measurement for one coaster.

Attach the foam to one piece of cloth by simple running stitch so that it doesnt move while doing embrodiery. Attach the ring and start working feather stitch -any design of your choice. I have done simple feather stitch square pattern and used chain stitch to form flower like design in a different colour thread. Check Veena's step by step pictorial instructions for feather stitch embrodiery.

Stitch the second piece of cloth covering the foam on the reverse and invert it so that the foam is in between two pieces of cloth. Give a stitch in the inner side so that it stays stiff.

Repeat for more coasters.

This is my work for Sharon's TAST challenge on Pintangle..

Quilted Fridge pockets with applique and buttonhole stitch

This is my first attempt at Buttonhole stitch and am joining Sharon's TAST challenge on Pintangle..

I quilted a fridge pocket, did some applique work and used buttonhole stitch to make it look brighter. Used some laces to cover the machine stitches...Instructions for this would follow soon....
