Materials Required
Aluminium foil
A design
Embossing Tools
Anti-rust oil
Some Kerosene
Cotton
Ball point pen
Yellow Carbon sheet
A bedsheet or cotton saree
Trace the design on the aluminium foil using yellow carbon paper in the wrong side of the foil. Mark the outline again using pen so as to be visible on the reverse side(right side) also.
Using embossing tools, emboss the entire design. Finally apply a coat of anti-rust oil mixed with little kerosene using a cotton to the design. Add some more kerosene to give it a lighter shade for the background.
Get it framed without mirror.

It is awesome, wow, the colour combination is too good. How does the foil get stuck to the cloth or saree. Pllease let me know. awesome one.
thanks fio. You need not stick the foil to the cloth or saree. It is just to ensure that you are able to emboss the picture well which is not possible otherwise.
Are there special embossing tools available for the same. i used a spoon and the embossed effect was not too good. can you pls let me know what are the tools since i am not in south
Yes meera, you get special tools for embossing...its a full set of about 6 to 7 pieces, but we mostely use only two pieces of it. You should be getting them in all craft stores.
its reali a gr8 work
Thanks Acima

hi saw ur horse n ganesh,,really good..want to do d same. but i dont know anything about embossing. can u tell me how to go about it in detail. thanks
Hi the work is amazing!!!!but cud u plz tell me that where is saree or the bed sheet used when doing the foil work? And also that how can the background (those tiny dots) be made. They are all in a sequence..how can they be made?
@ Menakshi...I have given the instructions to do it in the post.if u have any doubts feel free to ask
@ Tandeep...thanks, you need to keep the saree below the foil so that when you press from the other side, the foil gets an embossed effect. I used a blank ball pen to make those dots..just need to press it on the foil
Thanks for your inputs,,,I needed another advice that how can we avoid the foil from tearing, while working on it...
@ Tandeep..If you are using the correct gauze of foil and dont press it very hardly, the sheet wont tear off.
hi loved ur work but could u specify the exact number of foil gauze to be used
@ Anonymous..Not sure of the guage as I got it from the craft shop by just mentioning the purpose..But just ensure it is for embossing as there is a different guage for engraving
